There were slave markets at all major ports in the United States. So, Boston, Richmond, Philadelphia, Charleston, and New Orleans, among others. Many slaves were shipped to ports all over the Carribean. Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires, and Lima were all major slave ports in South America. In England, the slave trade was very important economically in London, Greenwich, Bristol and Liverpool (part of the Triangular Trade). In Continental Europe, Lisbon was Portugal's main slave port, Nantes and Loriel were the most important ports for France, Seville in Spain, Amsterdam in the Netherlands.

Hope this helps!

the first slaves first came to America in James town.Prince Henry established a slave market & fort in Arguin Bay in 1445 and they were brought back to Portugal. When a large slave auction was held in Lagos in that same year it was described by one witness as a "terrible scene of misery and disorder". By 1455 800 Africans were transported to Portugal annually.

The Portugeese and the Arabs had the monopoly on the slave trade.

Northern Europeans had to get their slaves from either the Portugeese or the Arabs.
