Does it not mean 'without prejudice and tolerant, favoring progress or reform, not strict'. It would appear that the term is taking on a new meaning these days. Either that or conservatives don't like the above mentioned concepts?

There is not one form of socialism. The kind reminiscent of the soviet block is only one form. There is also the concept of people having control over their own destiny, and having a government that is there to serve the people..as in providing services such as healthcare, public transport, the police, army, education etc. etc. Having these things in the private sector seems to breed greed and corruption. Can a governent be corrupt? Off course, but that's why we need to keep them transparent along with the media. We are being taxed regardless, and where's the services?

Because it's a way to shut the mind down, rather than carry on a debate. It's easier to call people names rather than admit self-error or even carry on a civil argument.
It's simpler (and also wrong) to call us socialist, to hide behind simple words, and forgetting that we too are Americans.
Funny how some call us all these names and say we are afraid to be called Liberals, but it's is all grass-level propaganda by those who fear using that thing between their ears.

Same reason people treat "conservative" as an epithet; partisanship and closed minds.
Most of us Americans understand that there is such a thing as nuance and that shades of gray exist.

Tolerant?
Refer to The Fairness Doctrine.
Without prejudice?
Refer to Murtha's comments about the Marines who were later exonerated.
Favoring progress?
Refer to letting the enemy know when we are leaving.
Reform?
For sure - from capitalism to socialism.
The liberals have done everything that they can think of to assure America's defeat in our war on terror.
Why is that?

That's what liberals used to mean, but nowadays, the "liberals" and really big government socialists. We Americans don't like liberals genearally, and that's why the Democrat candidates are avoiding that word.

Liberalism is a great thing. I am proud to be a liberal. I would absolutely embarrassed to be a Republican though.
Liberals are winning. They have the truth on their side.

I just know that in any city, county or district where Liberals are in charge of everything there are high crime rates, bad schools higher than average poverty. I wouldn't say they are bad though.
