Today, with the war in iraq and escalating tensions with iran, insiders are saying that there are preparations in progress to execute a similar operation in Venezuela as was done in Chile? Again, what is there to gain by a military coup in Venezuela?

the cia involvement is true. the moneys were sent through many companies, including the then leading newspaper, el mercurio, which u can read at mercurio.cl. of course its full of lies and back in the 70s it was know as the PERJURIO (perjury) instead of mercurio.
now, the american gain in times of nixon was getting rid of a socialist, which is what the president u mention was. and an evil one!! in the middle of the cold was nixon didnt need another cuba in latin america.
the same happens now with venezuela, which not only has an evil socialist president but also some of the largest crude oil reserves in the planet. the gain in venezuela, iraq and iran is securing cheap oil for decades to come.
