is it true that the inheritance trilogy(eragon,eldest) is really going to have 4 books now and become a cycle????

Yes, they are now getting four books. Christopher Paolini said that the 3rd book was going to be too long, so he just ended the third book with the death of a major character, and then started the 4th book.
