As Bible John has never been traced and Tobin is now 61, there is the possibility of them being one and the same. Bible John grew to infamy in Glasgow in the late sixties, so he can't be ruled out. I'm sure that this possibility is on the minds of the police, who now believe that Tobin is guilty of more murders. And there is a similarity, that is very coincidental; Tobin has been known to quote from the scriptures. As for people saying that Bible John has been described as tall and red-headed, who described him? Nobody knows who he was (or is). It grieves me that Tobin received only 14 years for attempted murder. In my book, attempted murder is as bad as murder. He should have been given life. And life to mean life. But this is one of those cases that I highlighted in one of my own questions. Why should a sadistic killer be allowed to live after destroying the lives of so many other people? I know I'll get some thumbs down here, but I think that THERE IS A CASE FOR THE RETURN OF CAPITAL PUNISHMENT. And this man, as well as others like Brady, Black, Sutcliffe, etc., are surely reason enough. Just my opinion, but I think you asked a very interesting question here, and I'm sure that the police have also considered this possibility more than once. I now see that 97minutes ago (at approx 3.30 pm) police discovered another body in the garden at Margate and are now drilling parts of the concrete floor inside the house.

Possibly, Peter Tobin would have been about 21 at the time of the first murder attributed to bible john. Similarities between Tobin's police mugshot from that era and the photofit artist's impression of Bible John strengthen the argument. Also compelling is that Tobin moved away from Glasgow in 1969 which might account for the cessation of the killings.

No, I think it's extremely unlikely. Bible John was described as being tall and red headed, Tobin is very short. Bible John's victims were 25, 29 and 32 years. Peter Tobin would only have been 21 and it was extremely rare in the 1960's for girls to date toyboys, lol. Bible John would probably have been about 30 at the time or even older.

Yes, he could be, a lot of stuff fits, i too was a child in Glasgow at the time, and well remember the feeling of fear Bible John caused. With DNA the police might have proof. For the sake of these three dead women's families i hope Peter Tobin turns out to be Bible John.

I think there's a good chance.

Bible John would be in his sixties now, Peter Tobin is 61.
Peter Tobin lived in Glasgow at that time, then moved away. The Bible John killings stopped round about the same time he fled Glasgow.
Also the obvious similarities in the murders.
Something else i thought of, BIble John was obviously religious, well
Peter Tobin worked in afew churches and also hid in a religious refuge when he was on the run for the rape of the 2 girls. Very interesting. Alot seems to fit in.

I think Tobin definetely killed Dina McNicol, the police had reasons to link him to Vicky Hamilton, and were right about that, so they obviously have reasons to link him to Dina McNicol the fact it was her they were searching for. They'l find more bodies.

Oh and police are also linking him to Genette Tate. You have to have faith in them when they link him to these things, especially now that they were right about Vicky.

Terrible how if Angelika Kluk never came over here from Poland, no one would have ever known what happened to Vicky Hamilton.

Real life crime really fascinates me.

Tobin should just be hanged, or locked in a room with Vicky Hamiltons dad.

Trust me jail is no punishment, I done time in HMP. It's a cozey, easy, quiet boring life, 3 meals a day, a television, (games console if you please, same goes for cd player and dvd player) all the home comforts you request.
Especially for Tobin that he'll be in a 'vulnerable prisoner' wing. I hate how beasts like him get special treatment in jails.
Tobins punishment is pathetic, so he'll see the rest of his days inside a cozey little jail room with a sink, tv, kettle, toilet and food, water, clothes, newspapers too if he pleases, oh and not to forget chocolate and crisps on the weekends. Hes been free for the best part of his life, all the time having got away with murder. I doubt he regrets a thing as he lies in his little jail bed right now watching himself on the news, after just eating his lunch, all paid for by us.

He fits the profile and I think he could well be Bible John.
Whatever happens, be so sad for Vicky Hamilton. Taken in the prime of her life, others too. That bastard will certainly be responsible for some of them if not all. If Tobin had been eliminated for his first offences then we would not be facing this today. Bring back capital punishment. To hell with detterent, lets make it a punishment.

I already asked this when answering another question. There's every possibility he could be,infact I think it's even in the Wiki site if you put in Peter Tobin.I was a little girl living in Glasgow when the name of Bible John was feared by everyone.Only thing that throws it a little is it was always presumed Bible john was a redhead.

There certainly is a possibility he could be and this has already been mentioned in the news. He would be a young man at the time of these murders and from description given by people around the Barrowland Dance Hall etc at this time it was a young man seen to accompany those poor girls.

It is a possibility; he is about the right age to be Bible John.

I dont know, but it would give some more families the closure they need.

One of the 14 year old girls he assaulted back in the 90's is related to me, I know what he did to those two girls, the media cant report what he did for the sake of decency, but i know what he did and I hope he rots in hell for eternity.

He only served 9 years of a 14 year sentance for the horrific rapes, druggings, stabbings, assault and attempted murder of those two 14 year old girls, and since the day he was freed I have been waiting for him to drop dead, hopefully he will find his own hell rotting in prison. As a pervert and killer of children his life will not be easy inside.

And for that I am grateful.
