Barry Bonds got indicted today on federal perjury and obstruction of justice charges. (remember he isnt guilty yet)

I think that many of you hate Barry because he's not a "nice" person but why do people care so much about being a nice guy? Bonds loves playing the game of baseball and he works hard, thats all that should matter to people. he really doesnt care about what others think or what the media says. i dont think the medias portrayal of him is fair. Barry isnt the only player to be linked with steroid and performance enhancing drug use, but people dont care about that.

so if Barry was a "nice" guy, would this be a different story?

I must say, I hate these flip-floppers who stood there in 1998 and watched Mark McGwire get caught red handed with andro and didn't think anything of it. They still cheered him on even on the road as if he were the Pope. The fans clearly sent a message to Bonds and the other players that even if you're taking strong supplements, we'll still cheer you on because we want to see a much sought after record fall. Now they act shocked to find this out about Bonds these past few years. The fans are as much to blame for this mess as MLB and the players. They didn't send a backlashing message to Big Mac and Sosa (that is IF they're going to cry about it now), so all the other players followed suit. I've been quiet from the get go because I know from observing throughout my life that the entertainment world is just a completely different world than what we average people live in. And it's not going to change anytime soon.

My friend, I've set up this question to ask anyone on the streets. See what responses you get from it. ----As far as obstruction of justice indictments are concerned, why Barry Bonds for steroids and not Cardinal Bernard Law for the Catholic Church sex abuse scandal that he covered up?

If he was a nice guy, it would be a slightly different story. People would feel bad that a nice guy had sunk to the level of cheating.

But in his case, the reaction (myself included) is "No surprise at all. He's scum."

And he is scum. He does not love playing baseball. He loves being Barry Bonds. His bad attitude and cheating have done nothing but harm the sport of baseball.

You're right, he's not the only cheater. In fact, baseball as a whole is completely in the toilet, and has been ever since George Steinbrenner bought up a pile of talent to "rebuild" the Yankees in the late 1970s. That was the true beginning of the "win at all costs" mentality which, along with greed, Prima Donna-ism, and arrogance, have destroyed the sport.

As far as I'm concerned, none of his records count, nor do Mark McGwire's.

Why don't people understand that there is a difference between a winner and champion.? Without honor, graciousness, and sportsmanship, there are no champions, and there is no sport - only merchandising and greed.

Most home runs, lifetime: Henry Aaron
Most home runs in a 162-game season: Roger Maris
Most home runs in a 154-game season: Babe Ruth
Most no-hitters, life-time: Nolan Ryan.

Those guys are my true baseball heroes. Not outlaws like Barry Bonds.

Well, Barry did not do anything wrong when it came to baseball's rules. However, you reap what you sow Why couldn't he admit to taking performance enhancing drugs? Mmmmmhhhhh, maybe a bit of an ego problem. That coupled with the ridiculous statements rendered by the man made him disingenuous. I mean a 13 year-old in a gym knows what the cream is for but not Barry Bonds. Yeah right!
I think you are wrong in that people do care about other ball playrs linked to performance enhancing drugs. You think Mark McGwire had an easy time of it. The sports analysts raked his azz over the coals.

Am no longer hating on Barry Bonds, yet his numbers do no longer lie. From 1986 to 1999 Barry's HR Totals exchange into 32 a 365 days thats greater or less 12 to 14 At Bats for a million homerun and he exchange into on %. to attain the 600 HR. From 2000 to 2004 His Homerun Totals have been fifty two a 365 days. Thats 8.8 At Bats for a million homerun the final totals are after he became 35. Thats out of the best of you occupation. Am no longer asserting he responsible yet numbers do no longer lie something ensue throughout the time of those years. Mark M and Sosa weren't angel Mark took the stuff. Sosa additionally took it and extensively utilized a cork bat. look at Sosa then and look at Sosa now he's smaller. Am tried of folk asserting properly gamers nowdays take greater acceptable of themselves. They do yet that doesn't translate into putting up numbers which you're able to desire to had in you best and not later in existence. all of us is familiar with Lance Amrstrong exchange into juiced to.

If Barry was nice I would feel bad. But Bonds was just a downright jerk. I never liked him. Maybe if he relized he was doing something totally wrong and admitted to the media that he was sorry like Jason Giambi I would think of him differently and have some respect.

Raphael Palmeiro was a nice guy but he got caught too. He should be banned from HOF & homerun record given back to Hank Aaron. How can you say he works hard if he had to cheat? McGwire paid for his steroid allegation by not getting elected to hall of fame. Bonds isn't a nice guy so your what if question means diddly squat

Why do you think that we hate him just because we want to see justice served? Hank Aaron is one of the most honorable men who have ever played the game and to have his record "stolen" by someone who thinks the bigger the lie, the greater the odds of getting away with it, is a terrible injustice. It doesn't help him that the steroids gave him a testosterone personality but it was his choice. He bears the responsibility.

Barry was an a$shole and he got what was comin'. Let him be an example to some of those other obnoxious ballplayers that cheat as well. We aren't going to tolerate this. This has been ruining the game for the past 10 years and we're fed up.

And yes, I'm thrilled. His bball career is pretty much gone...as is his fake records and stats.

I don't hate Barry, but I have no respect for a guy who has to cheat to break records. He felt he could get away from these allegations by lying to Federal authorities, but guess what? He got busted and it does suck to be him. You have to wonder about the fact he is in his 40's can still hit and has all that power. I can assure you he was not drinking protein drinks by itself. Go figure.
