Depends. How much science and math do you have?

#1. About 13.7 billion years ago the universe was very very small, and very very hot. It was smaller than an atom. It was pure light energy. There was no "space" or time outside this ball of energy. We don't have any real idea where this ball of hot energy came from, but some people have some wild guesses (mostly based on some dreams they had).

#2. The space *between* the energy particles expanded, very fast at first, then it slowed down. Space is still expanding today. It is not expanding *into* anything, it is empty space itself that is expanding.

#3. As the universe expanded, it cooled down. Some of the energy turned into matter. At first, the universe was so small that all this matter (dust) was like a fog that stopped light from getting any distance.

#4. After about 380,000 years, the universe had expanded enough, and the dust fog got thin enough, that the light could shine through the fog. We can still see some of this light today, it is called the "Cosmic Microwave Background".

#5. Millions and billions of years later, the dust collected into galaxies and stars and planets.

The universe all started out asa piece of matter no bigger than a golf ball with an almost infinite mass( hard to think of, but true) and then it went bang ( in the most simple terms i could ever put it in) that is what the big bang theory is, this massive "explosion" started the creation of stars and planets and space matter, it is still going on today, the universe is still expaning into infinity, and someday something will happen called the big crunch will will contract the universe, but that is besides the point.......hope that clears it up

The main point about the Big Bang theory is that the Universe was denser, and hotter, in the past.

This is an observed fact. The speed of light is fixed. So if you look far away, you see things as they were in the past. If you look far enough away, everything is denser and hotter.

"M-theory String-theory multiple universe theory" = then from another dimension, containers of energy bump into each other and cause small "crashes of energy but! amazingly these crashes break away from existing in this world of containers.... and push into our " " (empty dimension, or lack of dimension)


big bang..... this energy starts time and starts our dimension into existing....
the energy is made up of items that make the smaller parts of atoms..... quarks and particals...... then they cool down and combine..... into protons and neutrons and electrons......
then they cool down more and connect to each other forming simple atoms.....

some of the atoms clump together and create mass, then it turns into say a star.... which gets hot and then can combine more atoms to make larger and more complex atoms..

then they cool again and combine to create combinations of atoms, of molecules

The big bang theory is the most favored theory of the creation of the universe amonst astromers. The theory consist that the universe was created 14 billion years ago by a violent explosion, that had great heat and density. We are here today becuase of it. :)
