I was like your roommate the first year of college. The best thing my roommate ever did was just tell me that it was way to messy. She told me that she did not mind some mess, but to at least keep my side picked up. It was not harsh, just tell her, I am sure she will understand.

Pick a day when you know she'll be out for a while and do a major overhaul cleaning. When she gets home, make it clear that your shared living space needs to stay that clean all the time. It will require hard work on your part, but it will be worth it when she gets your message. I did the same thing with a roommate of mine a few years ago, and during the rest of the time I lived with her, our apartment stayed clean all the time.

hey take it from me i have lived with 6 different people! i am a bit of a neat freak, so when i lived with this one chik she was a GROT!!! i mean she didnt work spend all day at home and didnt do sh:t but make a mess i would get home from a 10hr day at work and clean ... i so got over it SO QUICK but i didnt want to say anything because yeah i didnt want to start a fight what i did (it worked 4 me) i got home and said "GODAM this place is a pig sty, and the last thing i want to do after a 10hr day is clean... god !!!" she looked a little guilty but still didnt get off her *** so i got changed in to the biggest dag clothes and said "ok we will take a room each, do u want the bathroom or kitchen??" She looked at me like i just asked her to give up her 1st born child!!!! so i repeted myself again and she still didnt say anything so i said "ok then all you crap thats around the house that shouldnt be there take it and put it in your room I will clean the house! its only fair (scarcasum) she felt so bad so she walked around the house and took all her crap and put it away then everyday id get home from work and it was a mess she would apologise. it sisnt get much better i hate to say and i did talk to her about it everytime we had a wine and cheese night, we were WERE great mates now we dont talk i ended up moving out!!! it was unfair because well i didnt want to but i am a better and happier person 4 it :)

Just pretend you got hurt whlile trying to walk through the room. You fake the injuriy, maybe a sprained ankle or a bruised hip, then your roomate might feel some guilt for your fake injury. And maybe she'll change her living style and maybe you can help her do that. If that doesn't work, good luck.

Tell her in a joking way that the mess is migrating to your side of the room. Then say it would be nicer if she could keep her side picked up. That you know it's nice to be able to be messing not living with parents, but it does not look very nice.

You just did. Now forward this to her. Or give me her email address and I'll show it to her for you.
