Assassination is political murder. I know the media called Lennon's murder an assassination, but they were wrong. Considering that many of them are merely graduates of university-based schools of journalism where the only skill they learn is to read and write press releases, one shouldn't be surprised at their ignorance.

Vambosthirdincarnation - I think the point Kitana's trying to make here is that the media have repeatedly reported on Jill Dando's death as 'murder', yet John Lennon was 'assassinated'.
I have recently wondered about this too.
In light of Dando's convicted 'murderer' (now overturned so he can be re-tried) in the news, all reports state that she was murdered.
Yet, only tonight, UKTV History were running adverts for their new series "Infamous Assassinations" and who among others was featured in it? John Lennon!
So indeed, WHY the difference?
Isn't Jill Dando (let's face it, TV presenters end up splashed over the likes of Heat, OK & Hello) deemed famous ENOUGH to be considered the victim of an assassain?
Or has it got more to do with the WAY she was killed?
If I remember right (I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong), wasn't she shot through the head in a kneeling position, mafia execution style?
Could the definition of an assassination have something to do with the surprise element, as well as the fame of the victim?
I think that's more the point here...

So the state can deny any responsibility & connection with us bombing the Serbian TV station & killing their TV presenters!
It is obvious it was a profesional assassination by the method & manner it was carried out!
A smooth bore gun was used, designed for close head shots!
The favourite weapon of the assassin!
A single shot in the correct part of the head is all that is required!
The coolness to successfully carry it out in public & get away with it!
Barry George is an inadequate type of person who is an innocent, framed convenient scapegoat!
It's appalling how the state is behaving in this matter!

Assassination is defined as "the murder of a political figure or other important individual." She was a television presenter.
Lennon wasn't assassinated either!
