The mall and other places have been decorated and playing Christmas music since November 1st here. I work in retail, so I see the craziness annually, therefore I am always done shopping and have my cards out by December 1st, so I can just sit back and watch the craziness.

I am getting excited for Christmas because it is a time when I can decorate my house. In the main room is the big tree all decorated in golds and reds. The mantle is covered with greenery and old fasioned German Santas. The stockings are hung and in place. There is a beautiful 3 foot old fashioned Santa very german looking who stands next to the tree, and a bag full of goodies next to the fire place. Most important on the sideboard is a beautiful large antique nativity scene I purchased from an estate in Hollywood California. It traveled all the way to Australia with no breakage. After all the birth of Christ is what this holiday is all about.

In my husband's library will stand a 2 foot tree on a table in the center of the room. It will be decorated with small ornaments and little books tied on with ribbons. The mantle in that room has old fashioned rocking horses and greenery with pinecones and red berries.

The Dining room has a two foot tree which has blue and silver colours and the mantle is covered in greenery with a Menorrah (to honor our Jewish friends) with blue candles. Like wise the table centerpiece.

The kitchen table has a two foot tree that is decorated with miniature kitchen utensils and cookie cutters held in place with ribbons.

The conservatory has a small tree. When you push a button the tree grows and opens up between the branches and Santa and his sleigh go around in a circle while the Christmas carols play.

The downstairs bathroom has a beach theme -- So the two foot tree there will have all various shells decorating the tree with little pails and shovels.

The bannister of the entry way leading upstairs will have large red bows every fourth spindle in the stairway.

The upstairs I have yet to figure out what I am going to do; but I am quite certain with four weeks left I will figure out something.

Outside our railings are covered in greenery and we have icicle lights hanging from the upstairs verandah and also the downstairs verandah. We have green trees on either side of the front door. And big wreathes on our front door and also the door that leads to storage (which is visible from the front of the house)

The garage door has a big snowman on it.

I have cookies, cakes and pies to bake; Christmas cards to address; and my Christmas letter to write (yes I am one of those folks that bore other at the holiday season with what my family did this year). I also want to gather canned goods for the church feed the homeless campaign.

I will fit in my shopping when ever I can get to it.

So in answer to your question YES I AM VERY EXCITED, esspecially since I cannot get home to see my loved ones.

Me too. And already planning what to eat -- big time. Anyone else like Christmas Pudding or is it just because I'm Irish. Wouldn't be Christmas without it. Wife and I just made it last weekend and now it marinates in Irish whiskey -- rum last year -- until the big day. Here's how we did it last year: http://thetowntart.typepad.com/the_town_tart/2006/11/if_its_november.html As to all the other food we're planning we've been looking through http://www.ehow.com/christmas/christmasdinner.html and getting hungry thinking of tamales, mincemeat pies and all that good stuff.
