Even more so! Adults recognize that if they are different than the bulk of society, they are shunned. In my opinion, the younger one is, the less likely they are to carry this burden. The need to conform is a habit that is acquired as one becomes an adult, not visa versa.

I never did as a kid or teen, and certainly don't as an adult. I enjoy my eccentricity, and those I care about seem to appreciate my eccentricity. I'm sure some do. I'm sure many conform to the patterns of their workplace, or their church or community. I just simply think that molding yourself on an ugly, common archetype is generally a bad move. Why be just another person in the crowd when you can make something extraordinary of yourself?

In the past, there was more pressure to "grow-up" and abandon pursuits that were considered childish and put on a suit and tie or an apron and oven mitts.
But now, you have toy, comic book, baseball card and other types of experts and collectors out there. So go forth and play with those toys.
I myself will be in the kitchen making doll furniture for a 9 year old and "testing it out" before giving it to her.

Yes, I think most people try to fit into the mold that TV sets for them as beautiful and acceptable in this world. I'm so glad I don't live for this world.
