Why do teens misspell on purpose?

Lyke?
Skool?
and others ...

Is it cool to look uneducated on purpose now-a-days or something?

I'm not talking about abbreviations. Even I use "lol" and "idk". I'm talking about words that require no less key strokes than the correct spelling. Like the words I listed. Same amount of letters, but stupid spelling.

And things like "GiRL" (with the lower case i ) take MORE effort than the correct way.

Just wondering why they use it.

1. Teens always do stuff on purpose that adults see as stupid. I know I did.

2. It is never cool to dumb yourself down, and really only makes you look like an idiot.

i am a 14 year old and not one person at my school spells or usues grammarical errors like that in their work. they only do that online.

Furthermore, Alot of "teens" mispell like that only on the computer doing things such is instant messaging. its almost like an online language that every teen knows how to type.

sk8r= skater
omg= oh my gosh/god/goodness
omfg= oh my Fricking gosh/god/goodnes

they don't care what they do, I fairly have an older sister who's an adolescent and he or she misspells words on purpose merely for the relaxing of it. i'm a grammar freak and consistently attempt spelling each and every thing desirable, while i would be unable to i'm getting so annoying. adolescents, at present merely have their very very own little team of acquaintances - on an identical time as we watch them make mistake after mistake in existence, and watch them have terrible grammar and spelling interior the destiny, in the event that they shop this up! No offense..

I think that Texting has a lot to do with it. They abbreviate everything. However, many of them continue to write that way. It doesn't cut it in the corporate world. Sadly, if they continue many of them just might find that flipping burgers might be their only calling in life. Looking & acting stupid is just that. Unfortunately, Rap/Hip-hop culture breeds that mentality regardless of the person's ethnicity.

I'm a teen and I don't spell like that! I have great grammar!

Most of that is used on instant messaging. No one I know uses "gurl", "boi", or "lyke" though.

I asked my husband the same thing the other night. And I wondered also why is everything shorthand like "L8R" instead of "Later". He says it's because they communicate on the computer or text so often. It's like trying to read vanity license plates. He said we are just getting to be old Fuddie Duddies!

As far as I'm concerned....all smart and cool teenagers these days DO NOT put stupid lettering.

The ones that do are REALLY uneducated and are trying too hard to be cool. Which they're not!!!!! :)

its cute looking like qt for cute it makes things interesting different we know how to spell them we just think its cool to spell things a different way we r just trying be r our own people not do everything that has been put down before us i personally dont usually spell things wrong like that only when im in the mood to impower and be cute lol

its usually because when typing or texting its esier to shorten words and takes less time to reply. its not because we're uneducated its because were smart enough not to waste our time spelling out each word perfectly, for example u is esier than typing you. we can spell ok if need be but as long as you understand it there shouldn't be too much of a problem.
