I have recently started researching birth controls. I am a 21, sexually active, college student. I went to my doctor to get suggestions and she seemed to busy to really give me my time. She suggested seasonique, but I read about it and just wasnt impressed. I work full time and go to school full time and realllllly dont have time to make another appt. I realize i should go through my doctor but I was hoping someone could take from their experiences and help me!

I have irregular periods. Sometimes too heavy, sometimes really light, sometimes 3 days, sometimes 7. I skip periods all the time. I have bad cramping. And I am usually extremely moody. Most of the time my energy is so drained the first couple of days of my period that I usually just lay in bed. If any of you are the same way, what birth control did your doctor put you on?

I too had screwed up periods. Very heavy, very painful cramps and major moodiness, crying for no reason, etc. I just started Yaz a month and a half ago and my first period on the pill was almost not even like a period, it was amazing! I would ask about that one, or research it on yaz.com. >L

Hmm, you do need a different doctor. Their JOB is to answer your questions and help you make the best decision. If your's is sucking, find someone else.

I first started on something with low hormone levels, but it just made me bleed all the time. After that I tried Orthotricyclin, which gave me morning sickness (puking and all), Finally I got on OrthoEvera, the patch. Its been perfect for me. I don't have to remember to take a pill, I just swap the patches every week. And since it has more estrogen than most birth control, I've totally mellowed out.

I have not been on birth control for a number of years now after having my tubes tied. This is a very difficult question to answer, not only, because I have been off it so long, but also because we are all so different. I think you should seriously consider finding a new doctor who will spend the time with you to understand your situation and needs.

I second Kariva. I've been on it for almost two years with no side affects.

I also second (third?) the find another doctor.

A doctor "too busy" to talk to you about birth control is NOT any doctor I'd want!

I did 3 cycles of depo provera some years in the past and gained approximately 10lbs on the tip which became awful to artwork off, ot to indicate the different element effects.

My doctor put me on Kariva. I don't need an appointment every month because each prescription she gives me has 12 refills, so I get a new prescription at each yearly check-up.

I went on it because my cramps were so bad I was missing about 2 days of school every month to stay at home.

Oh geez, switch doctors! haha.

I was put on Yasmin for a while, it worked good, but my body didnt the higher dosage, I started getting infections down there.
So I dont know if thats a good one to try, most people dont have problems with it, but I was one of the unlucky ones, so it might work for you!

I got put on Estrostep , and I really liked that one.
So you could always try that one, but each pill is different for every person, just because it worked for me, it might not work for you.

It just all depends on how you want to take it, and how you want your periods really.

=] hope I helped hun, good luck.

I was the same way as you, and went on Yaz. I had no weird side effects, and my complexion was improved.
