South Indians are darker because they are of the Dravidian race, while North Indians are a mix of Aryan and Dravidian

Nature would have it some of the pales have darker siblings. So it's in the combination of genes. Just the same way a red cow could have a brown cow. However, the race all together seem to choose more darker skins toward the sunny south.

generally north but im from the south and have pretty light skin for an indian............its genetic and also has 2 do with being in the sun a lot more........did u kno that ppl who live in the northern part of the world have lighter skin cause they need more vitamin d cause of something in the skin so darker ppl hav more protection from the sun because that they kinda hav a natural sunblock which makes them darker
