My boss keeps the temperature at 58-62 degrees all the time in the winter. I am soooo cold, i get sick and feel terrible all winter long. We live in Ohio and when it gets cold, it a DAMP cold. I would walk out, but im to afraid that i won't have a job. Any amount i have goes immediatly to bills. What can i do to get the heat turned up (and yes i have tried talking to him about it) Is it legal to have it so cold in a retail store??

p.s i wear long underwear and layers too.

I doubt there is a legal requirement about this. I had the opposite problem...my 85 lb, skin and bones doctor liked it hot! We nurses were running around sweating, and the patients complained. There was nothing we could say to make her change.

Have you friends call him and complain as customers. ..."it's too cold to shop there...you're losing my business" and they can call corporate too. Going to the top helps!

Good luck.

That is way to cold to work in. Does he know you are freezing? Try getting a space heater if wont turn up the heat. I think a comfortable temp for a work place is 70.

call the board of health because i don't think that's healthy to work in. Temp should be 66-70 in the winter... never above 74 but definetely not as low as 58

I couldn't find a law for Ohio.

Thre four States where I did find a rule had the minimum as 50 or 55, so it looks like your boss, although a cheapskate, probably isn't breaking the law.

You could try calling Ohio's OSHA equivalent and asking them. (I know OSHA has no Federal law on the subject)
