(1) Is it legal for a private management company charging for cutting grass and maintaining the street I live in. Its a Barratts House and we were not aware of this when we bought recently. The house is 6 years old. We are charged these fees and also pay council tax.
(2) They are also keeping a £50 deposit - surely this cant be legal.
Can anyone advise me ?????

If it is legal it should be in the paperwork you signed when you bought the house. If it is not in the paperwork, check with your local city council.

Maybe .. it is normal for Flats & other leasehold property, but not for 'normal' houses ..

In any event, your Solicitor should have sorted this out when you purchased the house .. go ask him for details
