When did anyone ever think the Warriors were the 2nd best team in the Pacific? I don't think they'll make the playoffs only because the West is damn deep. You've got 5 teams vying for 2 playoff spots.
Denver / Houston / San Antonio / Phoenix / Dallas / Utah are almost shoo-ins for the playoffs.
That leaves New Orleans / Clippers / Lakers / Warriors / Portland (yes Portland) for the last two spots. You also can't count out Sacramento, Minnesota, Seattle, and Memphis, because if they could get consistent they could surprise some teams.
I think that Sacramento will get healthy too late, I think Seattle will make a late run but fall short. I think Minnesota and Memphis will just come up short. They're a piece or two away from a winning team.
When Golden State gets Jackson back we'll see how quickly they can gel.
We'll see if the Lakers can continue to play motivated basketball.
The Clippers have a decent record, 5-2, and they're missing some key pieces, namely Elton Brand and Shaun Livingston. Imagine how good this team will be at full strength.
New Orleans needs to stay healthy this year. They had a strong start last year, but lost steam and stumbled. They're on another good run, if they can keep it up, they'll be a playoff team.
Don't underestimate Portland. They've beaten some good teams. They may be missing Oden, but they've still got a good core of young players. They may be too young this year, but they may still make some noise. They'll have a decent year, and be dangerous next year.
But I think those top 6 teams are just too good. And I think that Denver will come out on top. They're playing well, and still trying to get healthy and on the same page. Iverson, Anthony, Martin, and Camby is a tough bunch to stop. Once they're at full strength and getting full minutes, I don't see anyone stopping them in the West.
But to answer your question in 1 word...No (Golden State is not the 2nd best team in the Pacific) and No (Golden State will not make the playoffs...although they might)

Nope, the warriors have no place to go but up. They made some GREAT trades to get key players like Baron Davis, Al Harrington and Stephen Jackson. Also bringing back Don Nelson to the Warriors staff was a good move. If only the Warriors can stay healthy, they'll be a playoff contender. Look how good the team played against the Detroit Pistons last night, i believe that was the first time they played with all their key players (Baron, J-Rich, Jackson, Harrington, Monta, Pietrus, Biedrins)

I'm surprised Golden State is (0-7) and everyone hitting the Miami (1-7), Seattle (1-7), and Chicago (1-5).
They have to go up against
Phoenix
L.A. Clippers
L.A. Lakers
Sacramento
Golden State
They can make the playoffs if they can start winning but right now Seattle looks better than-them. Remember Jackson was suspended but he'll be back!

never did. G.S. had a good cinderella run in the playoffs. took on a team. don nelson knows like the back of a Coors Light can. But G.S. traded one of the most consistent players on its roster Jason Richardson (a nice person too by the way), for rookie Brendon Wright who is not even going to get any serious burn this season. they'll adjust eventually but i just think that they're living off the fat of their playoff run. Stephen Jackson is a joke and a malcontent. Petris is already gone. Monta Ellis only cares about scoring and nothing else. B. Davis... just wait he'll get injured he always does, plus he can opt out of his contract next season. Matt Barnes is mad he didn't get love from other teams and had to settle for a one-year deal... Even Nelson held out on coaching till he got a new fat contract. So everyone is going for theirs and is forgetting the the team in general... i still don't know why all these sports writers ranked them so high. Don't get caught up in the hype!!!
