It might be because of the religious connotation of Christmas. As you say, Christmas is becoming more and more commercial (as is almost everything else in this country), but the supposed origins of the holiday are practically drenched in Christian tradition. Even though it's now celebrated by all kinds of different people, some employers may not want to project the image that they are affiliated with or even sympathetic to Christianity or any religion at all. Thanksgiving, on the other hand, is far less religious and can be celebrated by everyone living here. Therefore, Thanksgiving seems a much more neutral and politically correct holiday for employers to recognize.

Because Thanksgiving is always on a Thursday, and it doesn't make sense for people to take off a Thursday and have to come back the next day.
Christmas eve festivities take place at night, after working hours.
Besides, Thanksgiving can be celebrated by ALL Americans - Christmas is only celebrated by a certain percentage.

I continually cherished to do a great meal for the two, yet while Christmas Day has continually been notably classic (turkey or ham and all of the ordinary fixings), i all started a convention with my young babies whilst they have been youthful wherein they have been given to %. regardless of they wished for Christmas Eve dinner. between the two one among them, a number of the mixtures did no longer look very in all probability, whether it replaced into continually good and definitely relaxing. The favorites have been quiche, lasagna, and trifle, however the only that they got here to assume each year replaced into "Toad in the hollow". that's an English dish variety of like pigs-in-blankets. you place a layer of cooked sausage hyperlinks in an oiled baking dish and pour over a batter. It bakes in and around the sausages, so as that they are variety of a ask your self once you decrease right into a wedge.

My company doesn't do that. This year I have the day after as a vacation day, but it's not a paid holiday.
