I'm going on a trip there. First time ever. All I want to do is see a Broadway show and get the frozen hot chocolate from Serendipity.
My tickets are nonrefundable!!!

Sandy: maybe I should have explained. There is a strike on Broadway and Serendipity is shut down because of health code violations.

yes i am sure the reason they shut down is because they knew you were coming and they are using the health code thing as a cover

Oh!!!! So sorry to hear that! Yikes! Well, there are plenty of things to do that may take the sting out of the Broadway issue as far as Serendipity goes, not sure what will help that.
Don't forget to visit the Empire State Building, FAO Schwartz, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Rockefeller Center....they sell hot chocolate. We could be on to something here!

no way will New York City hate you! I go to the city very often and it is just a place where many people rush past you daily. as you may know, Broadway shows is one of the things that makes NYC wonderful and many other things too. having the tickets not refundable is not a surprise because Broadway shows are special and sometimes expensive.

Umm, maybe you should set wider goals. There are dozens of wonderful off-off-off-off broadway shows (look in the village voice). Tons of cool restaurants, like mars 2112, Jeckle & hydes, mesuems, historic building, just walking around the village is worth going to NYC. The Rangers, Knicks, Yankees, Islanders, Giants, NJ Jets, Devils, etc..........

Girl if you love New York it will definitely love you back!! Have a ball and please do more than catch a show and get frozen hot chocolate. There is so much to do there.

I guess not. I went to NY some time back. I did not like the city, people were rude and unfriendly, traffic was horrible.
