Because God granted unrestricted free will to humans and no one knows what 7 billion people will do at any given time, no one can know when the world will end. When Thomas asked Jesus, "What will my end be like?" Jesus answered, "Think of your beginning not your end." The point being that your soul should exit this world in the same pristine condition that it entered it. No matter what happens your soul is immortal and will be unchanged by what happens to the material world. Between now and then we should work on removing any scars that the world has made on our soul.

Tell you what: I'll give you a hundred dollars now if you sign a binding contract that gives me ownership of everything you currently own and everything you earn from now until the year 2013 on that date.
If the world really ends in 2012, you'll be a hundred dollars richer and lose nothing. If it doesn't, though, you'll be dead broke on January 1, 2013.
It is my experience that this offer never has any takers.

no thats retarted because when its stille 7pm in america its like already the next day in china and how is the world gona end on that day if the time of it is different all over the world? so how is it gona end first in china then american then wherever else?
its not.
the end of the world is when you die.

Also, 2012 has no way of being the apocolypse. It's a year, It wouldn't take a year. It would take about a second.
And this has nothing to do with philosophy.

Nahhh we will be living in a different mind set aka dimension. we are not transitioning into the 5thdimension( the ones that didnt miss the bus that ) for some of us 3rd dimensional ego people oh well. maybe that is it for them.

no thats just a mayan myth that the world would end on December 21, 2012......and no it wouldnt end time itself......but if you actually use a mayan calender it wouldbecause they stopped all time coming to that date...
