Have you ever seen an original or a reproduction of Adolf Hitler's paintings?

Go to "Snyder's Treasures - ORIGINAL Adolf Hitler Artworks" on the Internet to view some of them.

To me, they are wonderful works of art, although in the vast majority of them, there are no human beings protrayed: only buildings of some kind, or rural scenes.

One might well ask, "How could such a hideous, monstrously cruel person, envision and execute such visions of supreme serenity and beauty?"

Can you explain such a phenoemenon? It boggles the mind to contemplate such an enigma.

What's your opinion, and/or explanation?

An intrigued,

Wotan

What I have seen were passable watercolours. Winston Churchill's efforts in that medium were better.

You need to remember that ugly people frequently do beautiful things. Look at the Mosque of Omar in Jerusalem, which was built by a bloodthirsty tyrant to deliberately profane the holy site of another faith. Exquisite.

Hitler was, as an artist, a good draughtsman. The serenity and beauty you perceive are your own interpretation.

Reasonably good amateur work. Of course they should be preserved for historical reasons, and apparently they will be, as they will be grabbed by some savvy collectors or art dealers. The prices guarantee they will be taken seriously.

How can rotten people produce beauty? The same way beautiful people can sometimes produce rottenness. Nobody, not even Hitler, is all one thing. It's just that we have come to regard him as the archetype of evil. There have been plenty of other truly evil people in the world, and I have no doubt they did something right once in awhile -- just as you do something wrong once in awhile.

Wow, they are quite beautiful. How can such a horrible man paint such beautiful paintings? I believe there is "good" in everyone, no matter the degree of insanity or evil. So obviously Hitler chose to "vent" this "goodness" through his art work.

well heres a theory:
hitler was cruel and very misguided but he wasnt indiscriminately cruel. his misguided mania was based on his ideas of beauty and purity which he saw as being tainted by particular elements of the society for which he had such high hopes and (again, miguided) grand designs.
i dont see any paintings of disharmony or conflict. they seem to represent either the beauty of nature or of human society in an idyllic setting. this preoccupation with purity and everything being 'just right' could point to whatever obsessive mental illness was in him but i dont know anough about that to comment.

An evil man does not think of himself as evil.

Hitler did great thing despite the terrible acts he has also done. History will remember him a monster but history is rarely written by the people conquered. Under his rule did Germany emerge first from the Great Depression, that rockets and jets were invented.

There are no humans in most of them because he couldn't draw people very well.

I have seen them. They're really not very good at all. I certainly don't see what you see in them. There's not much vision in them, let alone beauty.

He was a hack and I'm sure he knew it. His lack of artistic talent, his persecution complex, his lack of sexual prowess, and his need for control were all linked somehow, I'm sure.
