Has anyone ever done an amniocentesis and found an extra marker/ chromezone with the lab work? Is it bad??? They said they will know more next week, but I'm panicing and wondered if anyone else has gone thru this and what was the outcome. I know its not down because they already did all the test for that.

Its an indicator of down syndrome.

Was it part of your regular quad testing (14-20 weeks) where they check for spina bifida and DS and other issues? Those just about ALWAYS produce a false positive like you're talking about.

Just try to stay calm until next week.

Just calm down, it could be nothing. Those tests are really sensitive and it's EASY to contaminate them! I know it's hard to wait, but being stressed won't be good for the baby. So just try to take it easy and pamper yourself. Don't dwell on this - just believe that everything will be ok. :)

The doctors told us my baby was a "grapefruit" mass of tissue and I would have to have an abortion. We got another opinion and finally an ultrasound. The "grapefruit" is now a 13 year old BEAUTIFUL honor student. :)
