As a treat, I'm planning to take my 6 year old niece and 4 year old nephew to Disneyland Paris for a few days in April 2008. we will be traveling on Eurostar and staying at the Disney resort. do i need to get their mother to write a letter saying that she gives her permission for me to take them out of the country? if so, does she just write on a piece of paper?

By all means take a letter from their mother giving her permission for the children to travel with you.
A plain piece of paper will do. Include on the note your name, the children's names and the mother's name as well as a contact telephone number, and if possible, the mother's passport number if applicable.

You are right Brad S. Proof, apparently is not a legal necessity, but we have always carried an up to date letter when we take our young Grandchildren on one of our very regular trips abroad (from different ports), and on several occasions we have been told that carrying such a letter can save a lot of time and effort if Immigration or Customs and Excise Officers have the slightest doubt as to the legitimacy of accompanying children (especially if the surnames are different)

You dont need any proof, Just their passports. My Parents have just returned with our 2 children. They Flew from Cardiff and stayed at the Kyriad. No questions asked and they had a great time.

You need a notarized letter stating the dates and travel plan, also it's a good idea to give you a power of attorney (?) in case one fo them becomes ill while overseas...

write each and every element down about the youngsters. take %. or a video of the dirtiness and thinness and such. video tape his mood tantrums. worried about the courts to work out in case you want to strive against for them. record each and every thing. Be consumer-pleasant. regrettably, in a lot of circumstances the mother has say in issues, they are her little ones no longer yours. in case you experience she is neglecting them, flow to courtroom. call social amenities on her. yet prepare your self for the worst and pray for the perfect.
