The word that means "right to vote" is spelled "suffrage," without that "e" in the middle.

19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution extended suffrage to women. Look up that amendment to find what year it passed. Look up Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton for more information on the struggle for woman suffrage. (You'll be interested to discover that women could vote in some parts of the United States before the Constitution was amended to make that a nationwide right.)

The 13th Amendment abolished slavery. The 14th and 15th Amendments gave full citizenship rights, including the right to vote, to former slaves. Look up the dates that those amendments passed. Former slaveholding states passed a variety of laws to prevent black citizens from exercising their constitutional rights, the federal government failed to protect the rights of freed slaves and their descendants, and terrorism by Ku Klux Klan members and other white racists prevented African-Americans in Southern states from voting even though they had, on paper, the right to do so. Not until the Civil Rights Movement of the 1950s and '60s led to the passage and enforcement of the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act (look those up) did black Americans finally gain the suffrage they had been promised a century earlier.
