There's not much left of our family anymore, so we've been added into my sister's inlaw celebrations. I feel like a fifth wheel.

That's a tough decision, at least if you're married. If I was married I'd try to do dinner at my house and have everyone come over there.
But, as I had to make the decision last year as well as this year, I definetly choose my family. I just don't feel like I belong spending the holidays with my boyfriend's family.. I don't get to see my fam enough as it is, and I already see his *ss everyday so, I welcome the chance to get away anyway! Nah, seriously tho, Family always comes first..

The significant other may want to do what they traditionally do, so communication is key. Talk it out and find out the best plan for both of you. There are so many options! You could visit one family in the AM and the other in the afternoon. You could have them go to your place. Again, talk about it. I'm sure you'll come up with something you two will be happy with. :)

There have been some conflict on certain days of different holidays over the years, but since we live so far away from my family, we always go whenever it is, and see his family during other days of the holiday weekend or whatever..I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with many PEACEful moments for you and with those you love...;0)

my wifes family is on the other side of the world so it makes it easy.
But before that, I used to visit each place for a while and then go to the next. It was easy when we were all in the same town.

We rotate from year to year. One year his family, the next mine and then one at our own home. The other way is one gets Christmas, the other one Easter and or Thanksgiving.

Thats easy for me.. She loves my dad side of the family so much she beats me out the door.. And her family well.. they are Crack pots.. especially her moms.. and she dont go around them much .. as well as me with my mom side of the family cause they are snooty.. So it works out and we dont have that problem.
I wonder.. I guess I would take turns.. cause I do that for most things.. its that compromising part of the relationship..
BTW.. did you add a brotha? its me Jay!

We stay at home so we don't have to hear anybody complaining about not being at their place.
