I am probably going to start an up roar, but I really want to know.

so many people send money to organizations like that in order to help starving children and communities in other countries. Why are we doing this???

Should the starving children and people in America come first? If you live in another country should you think that your people in your country come first too??? If we still have people living on the streets and starving, why are we sending our money to other countries to help their starving people??? Shouldn't we keep our money here and help our own starving people first, and when we have a country where everyone eats and has a place to stay every day, then start helping other countries?

There are states in the us, that have towns where people are living like we are a third world country. Homes with dirt floors and no plumbing. I just don't get it, why are we supposed to help the other countries first?

To Noodles! Thank you for calling me and everyone else who agreed with me an As*hole. I appreciate that. If you had read what I wrote with an open heart then you wouldn't have missed the part where I said when our own country is stable and our own people are fed and housed, then we could work on other countries. Pay attention woman! lol

I just had this conversation with a friend yesterday and said the same thing. The money should stay in the USA and help our starving kids. I also just found out that I think it was Costco throws out thousands of dollars woth of outdated foods, rolls, bread, turkeys, meat, cookies, asteries, etc, instead of giving it to the homeless shelters. The meats and poultry could get cooked the same day and all that bread would feed so many hungary, what a waste, I refuse now to shop at Costco.

I agree with you we do need to help out our own first, but the rich help out the most in other countries to look like they are so great. Look at angelina jolie, and to if you watch tv they have commercials of all these children on that live in africa and other country that make the people of the US feel bad for those children. I think that we need to take care of our own too. We should fix the US before we try and fix any other country

diddo! I agree and i also think there should be more recources and counseling to prevent homelessness from happening, educating children on goals and there strengh giving them tools and the means to be what they want to be in life. offering financial counsling to married couples, have more self esteem courses that dnt cost a lot, if you have self esteem, education, love in the home, this will create possitve, educated stable happy people therefore homelessness will decrease. some are homeless due to war veterans so i say get more asssitance with mental help. to help them.
feed the children now helps families in the us but thats not enough, stars adopting children from over seas when we need to focus on our country (all children are precious but wehave to start with the us!
other countries are probrally laughing at us i wont say which ones but if we cant come together and help our people in america, how can we help others? I donate to 2 organizations in my city i am a "big sister" I help cook for the homeless on thanksgivng but thats just a bandaid handing out money to homeless is temporary. lets do more than this!

We should help our own first, and we do.We pay our taxes for their welfare,we volunteer at soup kitchens and give to places like the red cross, the salvation army and goodwill.Instead of sending money overseas to feed overpopulated, starving countries we should send them some information. They should not have children if they can't feed themselves and they should probably move to where the food is.If i was hungry I certanly would not live in the middle of a desert in the middle of the dry season.Move to where dirt and water are and grow some food.

Actually helping anyone is preferable to doing nothing. I think that as Americans we have become so jaded it takes emotional blackmail to get us to do anything. Thus, all the images on the TV of starving children overseas. Also, we don't want to believe that in America, the greatest country in the world that such poverty really exists. If you're really serious about helping others near you, check with local churches and shelters. Try volunteering on thanksgiving serving dinner to others who would not get to eat at all otherwise....

WOW! This is really a thought provoking question! I fully agree with you! Why stretch our hands across the seas when there are hungry mouths to feed well within our reach? Besides it is not certain that our money is reaching those starving kids or filling some Real big dirty pockets in Africa!!!

I agree with you, we need to sort out our own countries before helping others. What I don't get is, the government has machines to make money, why not make more and spend it on sorting these problems out.

I absolutely agree with you!!!!! I feel very sorry for all the poor children in other countries who don't have any food but there are children right down the road who need food and water and medical care. I think the money needs to be going to help those in our country who need help.

We help them because were not selfish and conceited like your putting yourself out to be and other people its not always about just "Your" people...yeah there may be places that are like third world countries here in America but atleast they have the right "minerals" to even survive.....But let me just say that there are a hell of alot more places in this world were people have absolutly nothing at all not even clothes to put on there backs there practically running around naked and dying on the spot we help them because the people who live around them arent willing to help because there probably afraid that the resources the have worked soo hard for might be taken away and they would have nothing to live for.....America helps because we care and we want to try and make things good for others that arent as fortunate as we are eventhough we have poor people out on the street at least they have boxes most people dont even get that resource available to them not even a soup kitchen in other countries...And another thing I believe that if we were to just help our own people we would be known as the land of the concieted and asshole's I wouldnt want that kind of reputation and I dont think you would either more the less anyone else

i think we are helping the people here, welfare, medicaid, and many other government ways. what are the people of other countries supposed to fall back on? we help them because they dont have the means to help themselves, we do. if we need alcohol, drugs, or cigarettes, we find a way of getting it. why cant we find a way to get jonny a better place to live or sally a new coat? we just have very selfish people taking advantage of things.
