Sounds like a math question (not astronomy).

ln(13-12x) = 5

13 - 12x = e^5 = 148.4131591...
- 12 x = 135.4131591...
x = - 11.2844299...
rounded:
x = - 11.284430

check

ln[13 - 12(-11.284430)] =
ln[13 + 135.41316] =
ln[148.41316] = 5

OK

Maybe someone used Ln when they wanted to use something else?
