Yes, the color change was horrible along with the fact that it was a rubber suit. His cape didn't even billow in the wind.
I can honestly say without embellishment or hyperbole that I believe Superman Returns is the absolute worst movie in the history of mankind and that is including Battlefield Earth, Santa Claus vs the Martians, and Killer Clowns from Space.
Shortly after the movie I got into a argument with a friend about the movie, I came up with 7 pages of bulleted point as to just why the movie sucked so bad. However, there was about a half page of the few good things that were in the movie but a pile of crap is still a pile of crap even with a diamond in it.

Hate is too strong a word, and his costume is a very trivial thing to be upset about, when you consider how much worse this Superman movie could have been years ago. Does anyone remember that Nicholas Cage was being considered to play him, and that they were going to use the "electric" Superman? I like Cage's work, but Routh did a better job as Supes. Also, up until about 5 years ago, there was a rumor that Lex Luthor was going to be from Krypton! I have a feeling that this "quiet" first installment of Superman is a prelude to a bigger sequel.

I'm not sure bright red would translate as well with bright blue in real life as it does in the comics.
And personally, I don't think the movie sucked. I just don't think it was very interesting. It wasn't exciting. There wasn't nearly enough Superman in it, and as much as I like Lex Luthor I would prefer a villain Superman can go toe to toe with.
How about a live action version of Superman vs Doomsday?

The whole movie sucked. I love kevin spacey, but he sucked as lex luther, parker posey rocks too, but she was totally over the top as kitty.
Sucked sucked sucked.
The story was slow and boring, there wasn't enough flight scenes... totally not worth waiting over 20 years for.

The color was more of a blood red then maroon, but I took bigger issue w/ the smaller size and 3D style of the \S/

Mr singer should be beaten for all the things that he did wrong in superman returns!!!
Wrong suit colrs would be one of the reasons!!!

The color change really didnt bother me, the comic book version is still the same, but the darker coolers make it more realistic i think
