Not a good idea. In general a movie, even at VCD resolution, requires 2 CDs, as usually you fit about 50-60 minutes of VCD per disc. If you want SVCD, you'll need even MORE discs. If you insist on a single disc, the result be be almost unviewable.

Depending on where you are, DVD writers should have fallen in prices that the money you spent on extra CD media would be close to buying a DVD burner.
