yes, every time the phone sends a signal to satelite it leaves a trace that can be looked at if and when police want to.Thats how the monster Ian huntley was caught,as it proved that one of his victims was at his house, when he switched her phone off

Not at all, there are over 60million phones in the UK - there is no way in the world the police can track everyone. One answer suggested the phone communicates with satellites.........not true. They communicate with the RBS (Radio Base Station) belonging to the network operator. The network has to know approximately where you are so calls can be directed to the right area, this is known as the LAI (Location Area Identity) and consists of a group of cells in the area you are.

When someone calls you all the cells in the LAI send a page message out for your phone to respond to, when it does the call is connected to whichever cell your phone replied to.

probably..
though there really isn't any way of tracking a phone as there isn't any signal given out (i.e. bluetooth, gprs etc) apart from the signal from the service provider, like o2, vodafone and so on.

if you look up mobile tracking, it generally asks you and the person being tracked for permission. obviously, in emergency situations the police wont ask for permission - so who knows?!

I believe that is true.

Do you really not understand that everything you do these days is monitored???

They can see you walk outside of your house from a satellite, they can hear your telephone convo's they can see all the information on your computer.

Cell phones aren't even the half of it lol

If you get a ''pay-as-you-go'' mobile phone, use it one time and then bin it, the police & security services have no way of
knowing about you.
