You are protected at the 99% effectiveness rate. Which means, any time you have sex you risk pregnancy, even if its just 1% chance.

I am assuming she is on the 21 day pill cycle. If this is the case then the week she is off is when her period should come. As long as she started her new pack of pills on the day she was suppose to you are protected. If her pills are in the 28 day form then the last seven pills are "sugar" pills, they have no medicinal value. Same as with the 21 day pack, as long as she started the new pack on the right day your birth control is in effect.

So she stopped taking it, then started taking it again on Monday? No you are not protected. It takes a while to become effective. You basically had unprotected sex if you didn't use a condom. I would use a condom for a few more weeks just to be on the safe side.

your gf should be protected but there is no guarentee, she should go to the family planing clinic just incase and see if she can get the morning after pill, while there she can ask one of the members of staff if she is protected and they will be able to answer, hope it all wokrs out for you x
