Definately fish, a cat is good enough too, they are lazy but they might scratch up ur furniture of you don't give them a scratching post. Also a miniature dog, they are smaller but you still have to give them exercize.

I would say it depends on how much time you spend at home. Cats are more independent than dogs and less "maintenance" so you can be gone hours for work and have no problem. Having a doggie dog is fine except that a dog is a social animal and can get in trouble if alone too much, plus a larger dog door will let a human in the home.
We had an indoor bassett in an apartment and then a home. He slowly learned to hold his potty up to 9 hours but when small or when old it was not possible. So we created a large potty spot. They now have diaper covers for the floor OR you can put down a large cat litter type box.
Parkeets and fish are way low maintenance. I would not suggest an exotic animal of any kind.
Think before you commit. This is a living being who needs food, water and attention. If you travel a great deal or gone long days and nights, maybe a pet is not a good idea.

I think it depends most upon which type of pet you're looking for. Personally I like dogs, but I have two big ones and they're quite high maintenance when it comes to cleaning and walking, small dogs however would be a lot easier:) I also have a rabbit which I keep indoors too. Although I've never had one a cat could be good, they're quite low maintenance as well. Theres also birds, reptiles and rodents of course, especially in my opinion rats:D I know rats get a lot of bad press, but I had two rats and they made really good pets, they're not boring nor are they high maintenance, they are intelligent, energetic, fun and very cute:)

Guinea pigs are good pets but only live to be about five years old...
The best indoor pet, in my opinion, is a bird. We have two cockatiels and they are so fun. They're friendly, funny, caring, and even can talk a little if you work with them. Just like any other indoor pet, though, you shouldn't get one unless you have time to take it out of the cage every day and interact with it. No animal is happy in a cage all the time. I hope you find what you're looking for!!!

Domestic Pet
When choosing a pet, it is important to be sure that you and everyone in the household is prepared to be responsible for that pet. Giving the pet proper care is only part of the issue. You also need to be aware of allergies within the household, be prepared to clean up after the pet and to be aware of the problems the pet might be for neighbors.
First of all, one needs to remember that that cute little kitten or puppy will grow up to be an adult cat or adult dog some day. With the latter, the breed makes a difference on the size to expect. If the pet is to be a totally indoor pet, there needs to be room for that pet to grow. For example, a studio apartment probably would not be the best place to raise a black lab or golden retriever. It would be more logical to choose a smaller type dog for the space. A cat is not so bad to train to be inside all the time but you need space for a litter box as well as his food and water dishes. If you have a fenced yard, a dog can be expected to stay inside the fence but a cat can escape. A dog will need to be walked as they are too energetic to stay couped up all day and night inside. Someone needs to be available to take the dog for a walk, remembering to take along a plastic bag to pick up what he chooses to leave near a bush.Any pet needs to have proper food, plenty of water, and visits to the vet to maintain his health. It is important to your pet's health to make sure what you feed him is appropriate. There are many books available to help. It is important to keep your pet from running loose in the neighborhood as they annoy neighbors, have the danger of disease or attack from other animals, plus pick up fleas from just being out there. I always resent finding dog poop in my yard since I do not have a dog. I know there are raccoons near my yard and I would hate to have my pet out there to get in a fight with them. Also, I hate to hear barking dogs. An occasional bark does not bother me but continuous barking gets very annoying. I think all these need to be considered when choosing a pet.

fish, easy to clean and their cages don't smell peutrid!!! yuck!
cats are pretty easy to keep up with too.
They usually just go in their litter boxes and all you have to do is dump it in the can. Little rodent pets that live in cages are usually the kinds that are harder to clean. My sister's hamster just died. They don't live long and she was absolutely devistated. It's best to have a sturdy pet that will live long, I think cats are the best to have. Fish are not exactly what I call companions.

I know this may sound a bit weird and creepy, but we have 2 sons, ages 6 and 2. We have a red legged tarantula. Her name is Judy and my kids adore her. She's very interesting to watch. We have NEVER held her. Although tarantulas are not deadly poisonous, they can inflict painful bites, and if your allergic to bee or wasp stings may be harmful. She's very quiet, eats about once a month, clean, and as I said very interesting! Consider one...they aren't that bad!

the best kind of pets to have in your house is to have and cat because cats can be train them to use the ladder box you put out for her or she is smart enough to knock on the door to go out.

hamsters- they are nocturnal so that when you get up they are awake and when you get home from work they are awake.
They are reasonably clean, peeing and pooping n one place, etc.
Also, so long as you spend time with and look after our hamster, they are very friendly.
If you are thinking of getting a hamster, then go for either unwanted or rescue hamsters OR a good breeders. Do not get an ill hamster from breeders.
Good Luck...
