This is a horrible statistic and what about illegal immigrants; are they counted in here? If so what is their percent contribution? Please give sources.

According to the Pew Hispanic Center there are from 11.5 to 12 Million undocumented immigrants (mostly hispanic) in the USA (2006). Of the hispanic ones 25.8% live in poverty according to the Center For Immigration Studies. I have no info. yet on whether aliens are counted in USDA reports on hunger in the USA.

It is a complete falsehood that illegal immigrants receives welfare and food stamps. You have to have a valid id and social security card in ANY state to receive either of these benefits; therefore, those numbers could not possibly include this group.

I hope not. They don't deserve to be counted for anything due to the fact they are here illegally. The only way they should be counted is when they are rounded up and put on a bus and dropped off on the other side of the border. If a person wants to immigrate to the US, that is fantastic, but they have to follow the same rules as everyone else. Instead of a fence along the border maybe use some land mines. Maybe that is going just a bit too far, but something drastic has to be done soon.

no they do not receive food stamps.. people who are here illegally are only entitled to emergency medicaid if they are in the hosp. children born here to illegals are eligible for food stamps. and cash aide for the children.
