No.
It might be possible to use a fast compression algorithm such as LZW to compress the data in RAM but it would probably slow the computer down massively anyway (to my knowledge no one has done it and probably for good reason).
If you're finding that you don't have enough RAM the best you can do is stop loading so many programs at once (and kill off a bunch of background processes you don't need) or put some extra modules in.
The computer can use your hard disk as extra RAM but as you may have figured out by now the hard disk is very slow (don't go messing around with the settings there, Windows has reached the point at which the defaults are right).

All of those "ram-boosting" programs you see out there don't really do anything except free up existing ram when programs no longer need it (which windows does anyway).
The best solution is to do an actual upgrade.
I've provided a link to newegg, which sells ram for some really good prices. If you need some help picking some out, lemme know.

Aside from the above answers, you can increase the pagefile (virtual RAM). If you have the extra hard drive space, you could try this & see if it helps you. Right click on My Computer>advanced tab,....click on Settings under Performance>advanced tab and there you'll find the Change button for Virtual Memory.

No, RAM is not a software thing, it is an actual chip inside your computer. You can raise your virtual memory by right clicking on MY COMPUTER and clicking properties and going to the advanced tab.

No. If you want more RAM, you have to buy it. Ebay is a really good source for cheap RAM.
