Because the "good things" are grossly overshadowed by death on a daily basis

Say what you will about the media leaning in one direction or the other, but simply put, there is no good news in Iraq. When the US pulls out, Iraq will likely be the next Rwanda. This tension is evident in all of this "bad news" we see everyday, where people are blowing themselves up on the streets. Thanks to the US, we now see a huge power vacuum, wherein the Shi'a and Sunni groups are trying to affirm their dominance over the other, while the Kurds are simply trying to remove themselves. While there may be minor positive changes in Iraq, they are extremely rare. The saying goes "if life gives you lemons, make lemonade"... but for the Iraqis, the lemons have long gone rotten.

Bad news and scandal are the bread and butter of the media. It's up to people who really want the truth to go and find it. Yes, there are MANY good things happening in Iraq... troops are actually re-enlisting to go back and continue the good work being done. Meanwhile, the armchair politicians in the peanut gallery (leftist media included) are ranting about bringing "our boys home."

**EDIT**
Good news in Iraq:
Here's a letter from someone who is there:

The "liberal media" is a myth. But it feeds your persecution complex, so you'll never bother looking at the evidence.

And what is this imaginary "good news" that's supposedly being covered up? I keep hearing people ask why this "good news" is never reported, but they never seem to take the time to stop complaining about the lack of reporting and actually REPORT it. Could it be they don't know what they're talking about? Or maybe they're just lying?

Get off the computer and go watch some more Fox! While you're at it, you can make yourself a grilled government cheese sandwich for a TV snack.:)

That's not important. What is important is that you've been cured of your obsession with Carter! Congratulations.
