I'm ready to move to a new city. I was thinking either Florida or California since they have pretty beaches you can hang out at all day if you want to. I have 2 grand saved up is that enough to start somewhere new until I find a new job? Keep in mind that I only have a high school edcuation and the only work expereince I have is working in warehouses and doing some odd jobs, but I'm wanting to get into something else.

2000 is not a lot of money to "start over" -- you are going to need to have enough to cover 4-5 months in a new location. Depending on what you want to do for work, and the local economic job outlook, it may take that long to find something which will support you. You can always find a "McDonnalds" kind of job -- but that will not sustain you to live and hang out like you are suggesting.

Doing simple math, a small apartment would likely be in the 500 a month range. If you rented something and they needed last month, first month and security deposit [usually 1.5 months] -- you would not have enough to even rent somewhere to live.

That is not taking into account other expenses like, food, clothing, entertainment, gas for the car, beach fees, pool fees, utilities, auto repairs, and other activities of daily living costs.

Of course there is always the cost of moving which will take a good chunk of that money out of the pie. And the cost of start up in the new place [the brooms, mops, sponges, towels, cleaning fluids, etc -- which cost a lot]

Also, job hunting costs money. Gas, lunches out, cleaning and pressing clothes, etc...

My suggestion is that you do not have enough to move, set up a new place, job hunt, and purchase food, etc. for the amount of time required to move to a new place.

Good Luck
