hi rachel
the main two issues here rachel are the processor and the memory, both are a bit on the slow side and this is whats causing the slowness of your p.c
however this can be remedied for very little outlay, and will basically double, even triple your p.c,s overall speed and performance
right the processor, the amd semprom uses the socket 754 so you can upgrade this to a faster model, one problem here is the avalibility as socket 754 cpu,s are pretty rare these days however i managed to find a AMD SEMPRON 3400+ HT(hyper threaded...) at http://www.coywood.co.uk/amd-sempron-3400-ht-skt-754-64-bit-retail-1311-p.asp
hyper threading is basically a early type of dual core processor,it uses 2 threads for faster execution of data, this is a good processor and for just £46.95 its fairly inexpensive
now for the memory...memory is fairly cheap at the moment, and i presume your using ddr ram with the sempron cpu
i recommend you buy a 1gb memory upgrade which will give you a total memory of 1.5gb which will speed up your p.c quite dramatically
a good module and quite cheap is a AriaNet 1GB PC3200 from http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Memory/DDR/DDR400+%28PC3200%29/AriaNet+1GB+PC3200+?productId=25701,this is quite cheap for just £28.49 inc. VAT
another good upgrade for your p.c is a graphics card as your p.c currently uses onboard graphics and this is why your using 448mb instead of 512mb as your graphics uses 64mb of the main memory for graphics
a very good inexpensive graphics card (agp) is the nVidia GeForce 7600GS 256MB AGP from http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Graphics+Cards/AGP/nVIDIA+GeForce+7+Series/nVidia+GeForce+7600GS+256MB+AGP?productId=28439,this is a nippy little card and will play any game, just not at very high resolutions but great at 1024x768
this card uses pixel and shader model 3.0 and direct x 9.0 so you should be able to play all the modern games
so finally rachel,if you upgrade your p.c with these components then you will notice a "massive" improvment in performance and speed and ok,the upgrades will cost you around £130 but its a good long term investment and it will save you buying another p.c which will cost you much more
any problems let me know
good luck rachel !

Well, this depends on how many people are seeding the file. Vuze is peer to peer software, so you are not only reliant on how fast your PC can run (CPU speed has an effect on how fast you can pull stuff off the network, in this case, your broadband connection - for example, you will need a fast CPU to fully utilise a 1Gbps connection, assuming that CPU is not doing anything else), and how fast your broadband connection is, but you are also reliant on how many people are "allowing" you to download the file from their PC. To get your PC back to a factory clean image, it's fairly straightforwards. You will have a service partition on your hard drive, which is designed to help you re-build your PC in the event of Windows failing; this is a cost saving exercise by PC manufacturers so they don't have to ship Windows media or a recovery CD with your PC. Individual instructions can be found on Google; it usually involves hitting a certain key whilst booting the PC whilst it starts BIOS and before the bootloader for Windows starts, then following the prompts. Google for your PC model and "service partition" or something similar. Otherwise, look for "System Restore" in control panel, and see if you have an early snapshot to restore to.

get a faster internet connection or right click on your grey line on the bottom of your screen. click task manager and see how many processes you have running. If you have too many you can mark some of them inactive. However you will need a pc professional to help you do that. call the company that made your pc and ask for technical support. good luck:)

You could re-install Windows after a complete disc format. It worked for my computer! This is the best way to get rid of all the fragments and clutter. But make sure you know how to update your drivers.

May need more RAM, also google "optimize" and you should find some sites showing you how to optimize your laptop so it doesn't load stuff that you don't want it to at startup. I did this and its almost as if the laptop startsup 1 minute faster and can shut down instantly.

delete your cookies and your temp files. Clear your history. Run adware (by lavasoft). That normally does the trick for me.
