1.) Do you like/dislike the fact that advertisers decided to start bombarding us with the 'Christmas Shopping Season' starting Nov. 1st rather than the traditional, day after Thanksgiving?
No, but only bc I love Christmas and to me it's never too early. But I do dislike the fact that kids think Christmas is only about gifts.

2.) Do you plan on spending more/less/the same as last year? Why or why not?
Less, every year I grow more and more independent and I don't have that much money.

3.) What is your favorite part of the holiday season?
Just the feeling of joy that everyone seems to share.

4.) Do you go to church at Christmastime?
No, I'm not Christian.

I dislike it.

2.) Do you plan on spending more/less/the same as last year? Why or why not?
Probably about the same. We try not to go overboard and focus on the meaning of Christmas rather than the presents.

3.) What is your favorite part of the holiday season?
Spending time with my family, the music, baking with my kids, all of it!

4.) Do you go to church at Christmastime
Yes, but we go to church every week anyway.

1) Dislike. However, I do think the "backlash" of others is making me seem like less of a Scrooge for resisting the commercialization and secularization of this holidays, as others are finally starting to come around and understand what I have been saying for years.

2) Probably less to about the same. Hard to say, since last year the family took a trip at Christmastime which used up most of the holiday budget, so this year's spending will be hard to compare fairly.

3) My alltime favorite part is seeing a portrayal of the nativity story by children (church program, live nativity scene, etc.). If I can't find one of those, at least some old-fashioned caroling for shut-ins or nursing home residents gets me back in touch with the true reason for the season.

4) Yes, I go to church every Sunday. Why would Christmas be any different? It hurts me to see churches actually cancelling services if they are right on Christmas or Christmas Eve--that's the most important part of the season to me (as I think it should be for all believers.) It also bugs me when families don't respect Sunday worship when making holiday plans. But then I get bugged about people that just show up in church on Christmas & Easter and forget about God the rest of the year. (My daughter calls them "bunny Christians"--as in Easter bunny.)

1) I don't like the commercialization of Christmas all together. Compared to that a few extra weeks of advertisement doesn't make much of a difference.

2) I generally don't have a set amount of money to spend. If I see something that I want to get for someone and it's affordable then I buy it.

3) Spending time with family that I don't see often and good food.

4) If I do it won't be because of Christmas because not going to church all year then going one day just because of a holiday seems hypocritical. I probably won't go though.

1. I haven't really noticed the advertisements. Nothing has been that great so far. I have started Christmas shopping, but am waiting for black friday to finish.

2. I plan to spend about the same as I did last, because I enjoy giving people gifts.

3. My favorite part is spending the holidays with family and friends. I love watching my kids expierence new things, because they are only 2 and 1.

4. I would love to go to church. However, I have not found one locally, I would love to find a church that is about families and the giving of the season. Seems like so many churches are against so many people these days, that I always feel so out of place.

1) I despise the Christmas creep. The slow movement of the "holiday season" into early November. Day after Thanksgiving should be the time for ads. Lets do one holiday at a time, huh?

2) same amount. Don't have any extra money coming in to spend more and I haven't lost any family or friends this year.

3) Food with the family. We have the best food and I love my family very much. I don't get to see them as often as I like, but that is why Christmas is so special to me.

4) every year that I can remember, midnight service/mass.

1.) I don't like the fact that retailers push Christmas onto us so fast. I mean, Wal-Mart had their Christmas stuff out weeks BEFORE Halloween. I didn't even want to look at it! As a person who works in retail, I do think that retailers move too fast. However, by forcing customers to realize that Christmas is coming before "Black Friday" rolls around (the day after Thanksgiving), it makes Black Friday a little more tolerable (if that makes sense?). People seem to "panic" the day after Thanksgiving; so by "reminding" them a bit earlier...

2.) I will probably spend a little more, mainly because prices increase each year, and partly because I've got a better job now.

3.) My favorite part is watching the little kids open their gifts. =)

4.) I go to church every week; it doesn't matter if it's Christmas or not.

Yes I love Christmas commercial and it gets me into the holiday mood quicker making the holiday season almost seem longer?

I plan on spending less this year because last year not only did I buy my kids gifts but we also spent Christmas at Disney world.

My family participates in the angel tree program so on the 24th we deliver gifts to families that have limited incomes or kids whose dads are in jail we usually tell them the gifts are from their dad. It's heartwarming I love that. My other favorite part as crazy as it sounds is getting up early to prepare these elaborate thanksgiving or Christmas dinners with my mom and my grandma my uncle and my sisters. My dad and my brother don't cook. I like to cook and there is a lot of bonding in the kitchen. My daughter just turned 5 so I am including her in the kitchen fun this year she can crack eggs or something simple like that. I also love the fact that our whole family gets together. It's really fun to drive from house to house on Christmas day taking gifts to our friends and family and trying and sharing all the different leftovers.

Yeah there is a Christmas's eve service with Christmas carols and the kids put on a play so we always go but we usually have to leave a little early because I am Hispanic and we do our Christmas dinner the 24th instead of the 25th

1) To be honest, I don't really care. I have been Christmas shopping since July. The stores don't decide when the season begin-we do. Day after Thanksgiving is when we will do our tree.

2) less hopefully, I have purchased my daughters gifts ahead of time too. Our wedding is December 1st , which leaves our Christmas budget compromised....

3)The overall feeling in the air and sharing traditions with my daughter

4) Used to, will again in the future when I deide what church to

1.) Do you like/dislike the fact that advertisers decided to start bombarding us with the 'Christmas Shopping Season' starting Nov. 1st rather than the traditional, day after Thanksgiving?

WHERE I LIVE, IT STARTED BEFORE HALLOWEEN. IT'S GOTTEN TOO COMMERICAL FOR ME.

2.) Do you plan on spending more/less/the same as last year? Why or why not?

LESS - HOPEFULLY. BECAUSE MY KIDS HAVE TOO MUCH STUFF AND TOO MUCH THAT THEY DON'T PLAY WITH ANYWAY. THEY DON'T NEED MORE. THEY GET STUFF ALL YEAR ROUND - BOTH NEEDS AND WANTS. ALSO, WE ARE ON A TIGHT BUDGET AND CAN'T AFFORD TO GO INTO DEBT OVER CHRISTMAS. CHRISTMAS IS ABOUT OUR LOVE FOR ONE ANOTHER AND CHRIST'S LOVE FOR US. NOT ABOUT SEEING HOW MUCH STUFF WE CAN AMASS FOR ONE ANOTHER. GIFT GIVING IS SUPPOSED TO BE SYMBOLIC AND IT HAS INSTEAD TURNED INTO A COMPETITION TO SEE HOW MUCH STUFF YOU CAN BUY.

3.) What is your favorite part of the holiday season?

HONESTLY, FOR ME, IT SUCKS. I LIKE WHEN IT IS OVER. I'M NOT A SCROOGE OR A MEAN PERSON - I USED TO LOVE CHRISTMAS. BUT OVER THE YEARS, MY HUSBAND'S FAMILY HAS TURNED IT INTO A COMPETITION AND A 3 RING CIRCUS. EVERYONE TRIES TO ONE UP EACH OTHER AND THEY MORE OR LESS DEMAND PRESENTS OUT OF US. MEANWHILE, I AM GIVEN NOTHING OR A "TOKEN" GIFT FROM HIS PARENTS WHILE HE IS SHOWERED WITH "STUFF". IT IS NOT ABOUT THE NUMBER OF PRESENTS, BUT ABOUT FEELING LEFT OUT AND UNCARED FOR (AND I AM WHEN IT COMES TO THEM, BUT THAT'S A WHOLE OTHER TOPIC).

4.) Do you go to church at Christmastime?

ALWAYS!
