At Thanksgiving, the person in charge or making the mashed potatoes would make the instant kind instead of the fresh potatoes?

Would you confront that person or would you just let it go and have fun like you're suppose to on that special day?

I WOULD be mad! Really. Thanksgiving is all about the real stuff.
REAL mashed potatoes with the skin still in it
REAL macaroni and cheese
REAL black eyed peas(not that canned stuff)
REAL greens
REAL cornbread(NOT JIFFY)

I mean, seriously. If someone brought that wall paper paste and try to pass it off as the real thing, I would make some real mashed potatoes and forbid them to have any.
*folds arms and pouts*
I wish someone would try to bring that mess...

Let it go and then maybe afterwards mention how much everyone loves home-made mashed potatoes. But just try to enjoy the day. It's Thanksgiving! Be thankful that there are mashed potatoes, even if they are instant.

I think I would make fun of the person if anything, but I wouldn't be mad at them.

Hey mom, remember when you mixed the instant with the real mash potatoes? Those were so good, maybe I would suggest they do that.

I've been to the factory in Idaho where they make instant potatoes, and the kind in the hamburger helper, and in the test kitchen the had us try to pick instant from fresh mashed, Couldn't, they followed the directions.

Lol, one year my aunt made sweet potatoes instead of (not in addition to) mashed potatoes. That was a good 10-15 years ago & she still hasn't lived it down. She still gets teased every Thanksgiving! It's all in good fun though.

Well I think that sort of thing would actually be on the minds of people in there late 30's and up.. The youngstas dont know the differences between time spent cooking and instant..

just for instance.. I myself love Mac and Cheese out the box.. but my friends and family dont .. they love the home made.. I do to as long as its creamy like the one out the box..

And mash potatoes always stick better when you make the ones that you have to boil and peal..

I don't leave something as the quality of mashed potatoes to mere amateurs ..... I have a sack of Idaho's finest and a Hippo on standby ... I have a pot of Fabulously unique --- mash ready real quick.

I would confront them the next day, so I did not ruin Thanksgiving

I'd let it slid. Instant aren't the best but it's about the people you are with, not the way the meal is fixed.

i LOVE instant mashed potatoes.

they're so much thicker and they get stuck in my mouth, on my tongue and i have to swallow so hard and . . . . .

oh, sorry, i got side tracked. but no, i like the instant ones.
