Hubby's driving my Jeep today, and I'm in his Nissan Pickup - wow! Kinda hard going from automatic to manual!
(cause you have to shift your brain, too!) *grin*

ShellShell, that's what the emergency brake is for! There's a very steep hill leading to a traffic light - I have to go that way to get home, and if there's someone behind me, I always put on the emergency brake until traffic is moving and I pop the clutch!

It's all I've ever driven.
Automatics are for pansies.

My first car was a stick shift. I always enjoyed driving a manual transmission until I bought my house and have a long commute often through heavy traffic. In bumper-to-bumper traffic you can really wear out your left leg pumping that clutch pedal a zillion times.
I always used to say that you were only really driving if your vehicle had a stick-shift. Vechiles with automatic transmissions you only aim.

I can drive a stick better than a rope... no seriously here is a trick I taught my son.
A 4 speed transmission usually has a H type shift pattern. Start in your shoe, your hip pocket, my passengers shoe my passengers hip pocket to simulate the pattern. Reverse is out the passenger door and in the trunk.

Yes. The hardest part was stopping on a hill and then making the car go again.

My dad taught me how to drive on a stick and I think thats the best to learn on. It is hard at first but once you get it you can drive anything!

Yeah, I just learned back in May. My Fiance taught me. It's tough. I finally just had to go out on my own and make my mistakes by myself. Less stressful that way.

Yes I can. When I got my first car it was a stick. My parents made sure my car and my brothers cars were sticks, just so we knew how to drive them.
