Mine are definitely comic relief, even though I do take serious care of them. Some people don't seem to see the comic aspect of their pets and are so deadpan serious about them.

both! there are times when i am feeling down in the dumps and my dog does soemthing off the wall that makes me die laughing!

You can't have a pet as a serious companion and not also see them as comic relief.
My cats were almost like children to me, but rarely a day went by when they didn't make me laugh out loud at least once! My labrador retriever is the same way.

My dog is a major comic relief for me! He does the craziest things, but once he finally settles down from his "crazy highs", he's such a great "serious companion" - very funny though! He keeps me going!

Mine are serious companions, but I get way too much enjoyment out of them for them not to be comic relief too. Like the times I've deliberately tried to get my cats to jump sky high by scaring them. Or when my cat whipped me in the face with his tail, on purpose. We like torturing each other. :)

I have two serious companions who care about me as much as I care about them, plus they are natural comedians. Why do they think they are so fantastic just because they can clear the front steps in a jump?

A little bit of both, my schnauser is one of a kind, such a good fella in lonely times. The more I got to know some people, the more I love my doggie, at least he wags his tail and makes such a fuzz when I arrive home...

Both.. I live with three dogs.. One is a very serious one.. he's of the grumpy schnauzer type.. the other two (beagle/basset mix and another schnauzer) are really funny.. they are serious companions as well.. (any one of these dogs will attack if someone is threatening me) .. but, most of the time both of them are clowns..

I love my "babies" with all my heart, and thoroughly enjoy their antics! They crack me up!!! It's like having a houseful of permenant toddlers running around!
