Most great white attacks are on the surface. So if you look like a seal to them they will test that theory by biting you. Ive dove with bull sharks, nurse sharks, oceanic white tips, Galapagos sharks and hammer heads (Scalloped) and the do like to look but to them you look like an alien and most of the time wont come too close. Although the Oceanics did get in front of my mask.

Sharks are not the bloodthirsty man-eating killers Hollywood depicts them to be. They have to feed somehow, but it's usually not on people. A couple notes: Don't surf with a black wetsuit on, because the silhouette looks remarkably like a seal, which is a great white's favorite snack. vanessa5 probably has the best advice on this, but if you'd like to know more, the Monterey Bay aquarium's website has great info. They're actually really cool critters. A final word: Don't go swimming with one without a cage!!! ;)

Any shark can do harm to swimmers, but there are lots of animals that are even more likely to present problems e.g. Bull sharks are responsible for the last few attacks in the Gulf Coast area. And it was a relatively harmless stingray that did in Steve Erwin. My point is that there are lots of animals that can hurt people, and even being very careful won't protect one all the time.

You already know the answer to this question!

But anyway: If you are a threat to them, yes. To prevent shark attacks:
1. Don't swim near sand bars (this is where they breed)
2. Don't swim during dawn or dusk because that is their feeding time.
3. Don't swim in water above waist deep
4. Don't swim with open wounds
5. Don't urinate while swimming in the ocean because strangely that attracts sharks.

I think that's pretty much it.

Don't listen to these idiot! Swimming with a dolphin is just as dangerous as swimming with a shark. Dolphins are very Territorial and suspicious of every thing. Thats what keeps them alive. Swimming with sharks is fun I've done it. You just need to know how to do it.

In a cage, no. Without the cage fairly because to them humans taste bad and they would much rather eat something else. Anyway even if you get bitten as soon as it tastes you it'll leave you alone unless you make it angry. They mostly bite to to feel because they don't have arms they use there mouth because its there only 'receptive body part' or something like that. To answer you question when you swim in a cage which i think you will unless your a professional and that's still dangerous, No. They wont kill you.

Even their skin will cut you... they don't normally prey on humans, but it's best not to take the risk. Try dolphins, much friendly, and not prone to go into a feeding frenzy at the scent of blood.
