There's 27 computers in a carpeted computer lab. This issue happens on and off to different computers all the time. Changing out keyboards helps but doesn't keep it from happening again. It happens to both usb and ps2 keyboards.

Ground the machines properly. Keep them from static discharges by using anti-static mats. Remove the carpeting. Tell the janitorial crew not to vacuum to close to the CPU's. Use surge protectors.

This could result in your connection. Try checking your keyboard cable and see if it is properly plugged in. I am also curious to see what some other possibilities might be. Hope you get this resolved as I know this has to be a major pain.
