One never knows what messing with history will do, so screwing with world events is something I wouldn't touch. I think giving myself the winning lottery numbers for a big fat huge jackpot is the best bet.

Edit: You do realize that if the assassination attempt on Hitler had succeeded, Nazi Germany would have negotiated a peace treaty legitimizing their conquests to that point, and would not have been destroyed, right?
