As I read these questions regarding this whole Santa issue in Australia and then read the answers it appears that most people are sick and tired of the whole being politically correct issue. So I have to ask, when is everybody going to stop tip toeing around this issue?

In a town close to my own the city council decided not to display Christmas trees this year. The Christmas tree isn't a reliqious symbol; don't these people do their research? People get sued for having wreaths displayed on their doors; while in the same breath it is the same people doing the sueing who display Halloween decorations. The last time I checked Halloween started as a reliqious holiday.

Why is it that all it takes is for one person to complain about something to only ruin it for the rest of society who was okay with it?

It seems to me that people do not have the ability to decipher what is factual and what isn't or they have too much time on their hands and have nothing better to do.

Tony you hit the nail right on the head. I couldn't agree with you anymore than I already do.

The whole banning dodgeball at school or having 'no touch' playgrounds. Give me a break!

We really are becoming a weak society in more ways than one. It really makes me sick! America is supposed to be a melting pot of ideas and perspectives and religions and and and..... But we're not that America anymore. We're excluding all these points and we're really not doing anyone any favors. We're not as knowledgeable as we once were because we've eliminated all different points of view one idea at a time.

I am sick of all this crap. I'm gonna rent a gym and start my own dodgeball team and I am not going to buy that insurance policy because you're supposed to feel a little pain!

And I do make my daughter do her chores regardless of what the labor dept says or child protective services has to say; it's part of growing up.

I agree with you too Tibarbi. If there is something that someone doesn't agree with then that person has the right to not read the paper, not watch that television program, not be involved in the conversation. It's called 'Free Will'; use it, excersize it before that too is taken away! I use mine; all the time!

On your behalf jsmb383 the next time someone at a retail store wishes me a Merry Christmas I will say to that person 'Thank You' and then go in the store and say to the owner or manager 'Thank You for allowing your employee to wish someone a Merry Christmas. And for that I will buy something from your store'.

You know what is even more ironic if I were to do that (I will do it by the way because I am just that kind of person) is that I am not religious! I don't go to church; I never have and I probably never will. So technically I should be offended but guess what; I'm not!

not so much sensitive as much as looking for distractions and being pawns to a media system that thrives on sensationalism. The combination of people not wanting to deal with the real problems of the world (inferior foreign policy, economic woes, etc.) and the media looking to provide a haven for the reality escapists (because the news is depressing..boohoo) provides a perfect breeding ground for a subculture that latches on to sensationalism. For example , our unhealthy obsession with Anna Nicoles death (as sad as it was there were other more pressing issues) or us latching on to and making an issue of Santa saying HO HO HO. that situation should never have left the committee room in whatver forum the idea was tabled, but people are making news out of things that shouldn't be news. In a nut shell, it's not that we are sensitive (yes I will still say we) it is more an abandonement of collective common sense, (which is an oxymoron cosidering that sense seems no longer to be a common trait)

I work in a shopping center and I to see that society is getting way to sensitve.I am not alowed to Say Merry Christmas to someone I have been friends with or am related to or I could lose my job. I hate it. I am not hurting anyone by saying Merry Christmas, but the politicly corect make it so I can not say it. If I were to slip and say it to anybody while working the company could be sued for infringing on there rights. It sucks!! And by the way
MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Some are far too sensitive while others are far too insensitive. What people need to realize is that we are not guaranteed the right to not be offended. Anytime we turn on the radio or tv; pick up a newspaper, magazine, or book; or go out in public, we risk being offended. Most of us will probably be offended to some degree on a daily basis. No one should have to change their behaviors just to avoid offending someone else. People just need to get over it.

Wow, you really do show as a person with a few anger issues. The context of your "question" is really lost in all that anger you harbor. Judging by your other questions you have issues with self esteem, intimacy and love. I feel sorry for the person, if any, that you are in a relationship with. Get some help, counseling, meditation, etc. Being sensitive is one thing, being a complete and total ***** is another. Do you find that you constantly argue with others you love, even yourself? Thought so.

We are becoming a world of Namby pamby whiners that have nothing better to do than pee on every ones parade. Why don't we all just stand up and say enough is enough and get over it. We are too busy hiding in a corner trying not to get sued to tell the complainers to sit down and shut their d@mn mouths.

I just read that article about the Santas not being able to say, "Ho, ho, ho" because it might insult women. This is ridiculous. What are they going to do next, not let Santas wear red because it's a gang color?

Christians always say, put the Christ back in Christmas. But at this rate, there won't be a Christmas if the PC people have their way.

I'll have to agree with you this whole thing is getting out of hand. what gets me is that the people in office agree. they most likely don't celebrate anything or they have too much money that they don't bother with holidays. its the poor or average person that enjoys it the most because its all they have to spend with family and friends. maybe these people don't have family or friends. who is ruling who?

I live across from Santa Claus Lane. Litterally. The people that live at the end of the road told me. The wife got the Post Office to name the street because their road was of legal length to be considered a street and she did it for her husband who plays Santa Claus at Walmart. I think it's cute because I get to tell people that I live across from Santa Claus Lane and really mean it.

I dont think "society" is to blame, but it just takes one idiot to ruin it for everyone. LIke the man who was offended by attending a military honors funeral for the use of "God" when they fold the flag. So, now it's banned to say God. (But I think they are appealing that descision.this happened in Calif.)
Let it go people!
