You are so right. Alex Rodriguez did NOT make the Rangers offer him that contract. Also, check out some of the entries here that say ballplayers are fairly compensated for the revenue they generate, and have actually started losing percentages of that.

Now, I'm like everyone else: $4M for sitting on the bench when a biology teacher can't buy a house is wrong. It's wrong that a family of four has to choose between a two-weeks vacation somewhere or a major league game. However, NONE of this stuff is the fault of A-Rod or any other player. Follow the money. It takes you right back to the owners.

I think everyone is pissed at A-Rod because he honestly believes he is worth more than that. I have never and will never be a Yankees fan. The owner is nothing more than a greedy BAST***! Does anyone believe in the old saying, "An honest dollar for an honest days work"? I know players in all sports work hard, but they do not work that hard. I don't believe any player should be paid more than $2 million a year. Players now have no team pride, they simply go where they can get the most money for doing the same thing. It truly is sad and embarrassing.

I think some people are mad because he opted out of the final 3 years of his 10-year $252 million contract. It would have been a simple matter for him to stay on with the Yankees for 3 more years, but instead he decided to test the market, believing that he could make even more than that.

I think both side are at fault. If Alex wasn't as greedy as he is and his agent didn't follow suit his salary would be down to earth. That being said The Yankees are friggin crazy to be paying him more than the GNP for most 3rd world countries and I'm a Yankee fan as well.

which is why fans should tell their favourite teams what they do and don't find acceptable.

To the people that said you would take money if thrown at you, there is a HUGE difference between need and want.
The difference between 40k a year and 60k a year is huge, but what can Arod do with $35 mil that he really can't do with $20 mil.

Thank you for bringing this up. No one(to my knowledge) has ever held a gun to an owner to pay a player a large amount of money.

I agree,I don't blame this man for getting all he can get. It's the owners that are to blame for these outrageous salaries.
