Isn't that the genre where the guys were prettier than their girlfriends? I never had the stomach for any of that stuff man!
I could never dig those poser bands.
I guess I enjoyed real metal; Iron Maiden, early Saxon, Man o War, Slayer, Witchfinder General, Samson, Anthrax, Split Beaver, Goatwhore, Sacred Reich, Flotsam and Jetsam, Coroner, Judas Priest, early Krokus, Cannibal Corpse, Venom, Six Feet Under, early Accept, The Black Dahlia Murder, King Diamond, Armored Saint, Voi Vod, etc. All that Poison, Motley Crew, and Ratt stuff was all about hairspray and make up.

"Let each note I now play be a black arrow of death sent straight to the hearts of all those who play false metal!"

Edit - Sarah C -
That has to be the best description of a 'poser hair metal dude' that I've ever heard! Wow...too funny! The only problem is I really do love bunnies, they're so cute!

I was soo born in the wrong decade, music flat out sucks nowadays. I mean when you talk about 00's and 80's music we're comparing **** and chocolate here. I'm much more into 80's thrash, speed, and power metal (Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth etc). I know what Metallica meant by "killing all the posers" and hating the mainstream wannabe metalheads of the early 80's. Some hair metal was good though, I like what Motley Crue had in the mid-80's, and I know Def Leppard wasn't technically a hair metal band but as far as poppy 80's metal went they're among my favorite (their first 2 albums especially). Skid Row's first album was kind of hair metalish. Guns n' Roses was NOT a hair metal band, they created the perfect mix of great melodies with a dangerous edge.

I LOVE it! One of my favorite genres of music. I love anything from the 80's. I'm a teen in the wrong generation. I'm 15 but I wish I was alive in the 80's. Bring back hair metal!!

Metal made great strides in the 80s. I have to say the music was seriously better than it is now. Rap sucks and few rock bands that make a difference. Give me Judas Priest and ACDC any day.

I'm not a big fan. It all seemed so obnoxious to me. I can't really describe hair metal without using the word "fluffy", kind of odd since it is a form of metal... But it all seemed like they were trying to be metal, but not really there cause they were too absorbed in building the look. It's hard to describe, just think of a fluffy bunny in a leather jacket with chains, tattoos and piercings, that's my view on hair metal.
