I'm sure it will be more efficient as long as it can handle the job.

Depends on the efficiency of the furnace and the efficiency of the heat pump, but with a 2 zone (forced air system?) the furnace would come on whenever either zone called for heat. Both furnace and heat pumps can be purchased in the 92% eefficiency ranges. I think that what would make the most impact assuming both units have the same rating is the correct sizing of the supply ducting, so that you are not under heating areas of your home, and thus, having the furnace calling for heat more often.

Despite what the one girl said, heat pumps are verry efficant you will be suprised.

I just build my parents house a 3100 sq.ft. ranch with dual zone electric 2 ton ac units and 13kw furnaces with the heat pumps, it only cost them about $40 to heat the entire house.

No Lie I would be gald to e-mail you a copy of the electric bill.

No, no, no!! Heat pumps are horribly inefficient. Gas is the only way to go on both floors.
