Yes. There seems to be a trend to this type of activity. Like the Native Indians feel like they should be entitled to have all their land back because their great great grandfathers sold it for a string of beads and a bottle of whiskey. The blacks want repatriation for slavery..so lets go and sue the sources of slavery.
What these people are forgetting is the fact that they are 5 or 6 generations removed and their lives are up to them!!
If slavery had never existed, Blacks would be in the same place they are now. WHY? Because they look for every excuse as to why they can't be sucessful rather than getting off their butts and going and making something with their lives. If you go to Toronto Canada, where do you see native indians?? working? No..you see them all along Queen Street, sleeping on subway grates.

There's alot of people who had responsibility in the situation and yes the sellers were just as guilty.
It's water under the bridge and there isn't a nation or a race without some pretty god awful parts in their own pasts. It's here and now today. Can't change the past....can't "make up" for it.....and with things as bad as they are in certain parts of Africa.....who's to say it wasn't a blessing for some in the long run anyway. The best anyone can do is hope they don't repeat the same mistakes again and alter the future. That we have done. Maybe not to perfection.....but that won't ever happen as long as people keep going with this attitude.

ok seriously get a life...........are you trying to justify the fact that black pple wr and still are being treated badly by blaming it on the black man.
first of all lets get something straight.
the reason while africans had slaves was for different reasons.
1. they fought a battle between tribes and the losers worked under the the victorious ones.
2. there was some kind of debt someone in some family was owing, and to pay for it, they had to offer up a member of their family or something.
3. also people who were wayward, and committed crimes wr made slaves, kinda like keeping them isolated to work, hey, they didn't have prisons back then.
when white people came to africa, they're the ones who had alterior motives. they knew what they wanted to do with the africans. okay fine, blame them for the slave trade, who came up with the jim crow laws? who treated the black man like an animal? made him feel inferior? look at southafrica, can you blame the black people for that one.
its the year 2007. nobody in this generation should be blamed for slavery, be it africans or be it white. the people that should be blamed for anything right now are those that are racists. they are the real evil.
i hope i didn't offend anyone. i was jst tired of hearing crap like this.
p.s
my grandfather was white and i don't have anything against any race of people.

Perhaps BLACKS should, but the US itself has no claim on damages stemming from the legal idea of one person "ownng" another. It was legal here under US law (until the Emancipation Proclamation) and since they were in fact "accessories during and after the fact" they should share the responsibility for the crime of slavery (something I believe America has done, but those "African nations" you mention have not).
On the other side of that coin, should WHITE descendants of men who died fighting in the Civil War in support of Emancipation be able to sue BLACK America for money stemming from the fact my great great great grandfather was killed for helping freed slaves (I'm not claiming he WAS, but MANY white people were hung for helping freed slaves)?
If not, then let's hear no more about "40 acres and a mule".

Steve, stop being a troll. Are those nations that sold slaves even nations today? Why are you dredging this up - for attention? Didn't your mommy pay attention to you when you were little? Did she turn on the boob tube and make you watch TV all day? I think she did...

I dont think anyone should have to pay reparations because there is not ONE black person alive who was a slave or whose parents were slaves or whose parents parents were slaves. The idea is as ridiculous as me expecting someones great great great great grandson to pay me because his great great great great grandfather stole something from my great great great great grandfather. I was in no way responsible for slavery nor was anyone in my family every associated with the slave trade. alot of black people like to group whites together and act as though we all had relatives who lived on a big ranch sipping brandy and smoking big cigars as slaves plowed our fields. Nothing could be historically further from the truth. Less than 2% of present day American whites had relatives who were descendants of slave owners.

it really is happened all by ability of historic past, one crew is paid to catch or kill yet another crew, by ability of a third crew who seeks to conquer or administration the first crew. It happened rampantly with the yankee Indians, tribe eagerly likedthe concept of being on the aspect of the Whites to attack previous enemies, flow to the Custer conflict Filed Memorial, and observe what the interior of sight tribes have finished to memorialize there loyalty to US troops antagonistic to he different tribes, a similar in Africa, in basic terms because they the position Black, does no longer recommend they the position a similar tribe, only a whites in Europe are English,French, german etc, so that's in Africa and Years in the past interior the Americas. It;s happened in historic rome, in Egypt, in Asia, everywhere. it really is between the oldest techniques interior the international, works extremely good i wager. in basic terms because some flesh presser "apologizes" for something, would not recommend he represents the different right now, and absolutely does no longer have any declare of representing human beings interior the previous. Nancy Pelosi is in basic terms yet another bleeding heart socialist who's to rich to even extremely understand what anyones suffering is about, previous or present.

Certainly..that way the slackers get their 'reparations' and we don't have to foot that "care package".
Convenient of the black community to disregard the historical fact that it was BLACK tribal leaders that captured and sold other blacks to white traders isn't it?
Can't have truth get in the way of their being 'victimized' by mean ol' whitey.
