Great question. Let's watch 'em squirm.

And actually - Jesus would run as a Socialist.

Acts 4:32-35
King James Version (KJV)
Public Domain

32And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.

33And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.

34Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold,

35And laid them down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need.

rush: "So, my fellow Americans, you heard it straight from the horse's mouth! Jesus admits to having a moment of weakness when the Devil tried to buy him out! What a surrender monkey that Jesus is! What a traitor! He must hate America!!"

Jesus was too un-Christian (according to the Republican definition), so they'd not only not vote for him, they'd run ads to smear him in the process.

Hung around with just guys and unmarried (they'd imply he was homosexual), the main woman he did hang out with was a known prostitute, he was pro-welfare/socialism/redistribution (constantly preaching to the rich to give up their money for the needy), soft on crime, etc etc.

He was also a Jew, from the Middle East and dark-skinned. The right-wing smear machine would be running at top speed.

You presume far too much. If Jesus came back to Earth and ran as a democrat, there wouldn't be any democrats left. I have a feeling that Jesus wouldn't get on well with the atheists and would be a little more than ticked off to see that folks have been having kids with absolutely no intention of supporting them. I have a feeling Jesus would be pretty big on personal responsibility which is not a tenet of the democratic constituency.

What if jesus was an illegal immigrant, having crossed through the desert on a dangerous trek to leaf-blow your lawn?

Love it! Jesus was all about peace and love, so he would definitely be a democrat! Repubs would have him ejected for being such a hippy.

Jesus excluded himself from politics. If he were back today he wouldn't take part in our corrupt system. Both parties are based on greed.
